My name is Aïna Chalabaev. I am a postdoctoral researcher working with Dr. Major on a Marie Curie fellowship from the European Commission. In my current research we investigate stereotype threat effects on females' math performance. More precisely, we examine the role of cognitive (e.g., achievement goals) and physiological variables in this phenomenon. I received my Ph.D in physical education and exercise sciences from the University Joseph Fourier of Grenoble, France, in September 2006. My dissertation research examined how gender stereotypes affect girls' performance in sports and physical education classes, based on frameworks such as stereotype threat, Eccles' expectancy-value model and the self-fulfilling prophecy. Originally from Grenoble in the Alps, I love mountain sports such as skiing and hiking, and this year I took up surfing.
