Undergraduate Studies: Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology

Psi Chi National Honor Society in Psychology, was founded in 1920 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership is open to graduate and undergraduate men and women who are making the study of psychology one of their major interests and who meet the minimum qualifications.

Every fall and spring quarter, the Psychology Psi Chi Honor Society recruits new members. Watch for posted announcements of meetings and other activities that are open to both members and non-members.

The application for Psi Chi Membership is based on criteria provided by the National Psi Chi Honor Society. The requirements for Psi Chi membership are as follows:

  • At least 12 units of upper division Psychology work . These units must be taken at UCSB.
  • Upper division Psychology GPA of at least 3.3.
  • Overall UCSB Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
  • A $50.00 one-time membership fee is paid upon acceptance into the honor society.
  • An unofficial transcript and self addressed, stamped envelope must accompany each application.
  • Once accepted, participation in monthly meetings and group activities is encouraged.
