Undergraduate Studies: Psychology Peer Advisor Eligibility and Job Description

Applications taken annually Winter Quarter.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Undergraduate major in Psychology or Biopsychology.
  • Upper-division standing.
  • Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
  • 16 upper-division units completed in psychology by the end of upcoming summer session.
  • Be available to work approximately 8-10 hours per week.
  • Must be available for the entire academic year.
  • Should be familiar with campus resources.
  • Must be available for approximately 10-15 hours of training during Spring Quarter, and for follow-up training shortly before Fall Quarter begins.

Job Description

  • Advising undergraduates and prospective students regarding major requirements and policies and philosophies of the Psychology department.
  • Assisting undergraduates in course selection.
  • Assisting undergraduates with change of major petitions and petitions for graduation matters.
  • Referring students to other resources on campus.
  • Informing students about preparation for and application to graduate programs.
  • General administrative tasks including: filing, typing, answering phones, directing office traffic.
