Psychology Peer Advisor Eligibility and Job Description
Applications taken annually Winter Quarter.
Eligibility Criteria
- Undergraduate major in Psychology or Biopsychology.
- Upper-division standing.
- Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
- 16 upper-division units completed in psychology by the end of upcoming summer session.
- Be available to work approximately 8-10 hours per week.
- Must be available for the entire academic year.
- Should be familiar with campus resources.
- Must be available for approximately 10-15 hours of training during Spring Quarter, and for follow-up training shortly before Fall Quarter begins.
Job Description
- Advising undergraduates and prospective students regarding major requirements and policies and philosophies of the Psychology department.
- Assisting undergraduates in course selection.
- Assisting undergraduates with change of major petitions and petitions for graduation matters.
- Referring students to other resources on campus.
- Informing students about preparation for and application to graduate programs.
- General administrative tasks including: filing, typing, answering phones, directing office traffic.
