Undergraduate Studies: Psychology Major

Admission to the Psychology major is contingent upon the prior completion of the preparation for the major with:

  1. 1. A 2.75 grade point average earned in the pre-major
  2. No course with a grade lower than C-
  3. Not more than one course with a C-
  4. No course taken P/NP
  5. Completion of pre-major prior to completion of 144 units

Note: Transfer students who have completed the entire pre-major prior to transfer must earn a 2.0 or higher UC GPA in at least two upper division psychology courses numbered 100-109 before they can be admitted to the full major.

Pre-Major

I. Psychology 1, 3, 5, 7 15 units
II. Mathematics 34A 4 units

Upper-Division Major

37 upper division units are required as follows:

1) Four courses from Psychology 100-109 16 units
2) One of the following laboratory courses: Psychology 110L, 112L, 117L, 120L, 153L 5 units
3) Sixteen units from Psychology 110-199, of which no more than 12 units may be numbered 197ABC, 198 or 199 16 units
