  • Psychology 199 INDEPENDENT RESEARCH IN PSYCHOLOGY (Note: This course is suggested to students interested in attending graduate school).
  • Education 165/165L INTRODUCTION TO COUNSELING PSYCHOLOGY (Note: This course will not apply towards the Psychology major requirements, but it counts as Letters and Science upper-division units towards graduation.)

Other Suggestions

  • Consider minoring in Applied Psychology. See the Graduate School of Education website for more information.
  • Take a variety of courses in upper-division psychology.
  • Get an internship through the Counseling and Career Services. Try to find an internship that is relevant to your area of interest. The more experience you have, the better your resume will be.
  • Visit the Resource Room in the Counseling and Career Center. They have many binders that discuss different career options. They also have graduate school information.
  • Talk to a career counselor in the Counseling and Career Center. He or she may be able to answer your questions about certain careers or may be able to get you in the right direction for finding your career interests.
  • If you are planning to go to graduate school, get research experience. Many graduate schools require that you have research experience.
  • Get to know your professors. Most graduate schools require at least three letters of recommendation.
