About: Matt Peterson

Matt

I studied electrical engineering, with an emphasis on photonics and electronics, for six years here at UC Santa Barbara. After earning my B.S. and M.S. degrees and passing the rough screening exam I found I was rather dissatisfied with my research and even the engineering community as a whole. Looking forward to the rest of my life I figured it was better to explore more engaging and fulfilling activities sooner rather than later. With a new-found optimism I looked into a few possibilities, including architecture, theoretical physics, creative writing and even the Peace Corps. Fortunately, I decided to rekindle my interest in the human brain and mind. While taking a course in human perception I approached Dr. Jack Loomis regarding future academic and research interests. He referred me to Dr. Eckstein and the rest, as they say, is history.
