The research facilities of the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences include an extensive range of state-of-the-art equipped faculty research laboratories. In addition, the department houses the Brain Imaging Center and the Research Center for Virtual Environments and Behavior. The department also has a modern animal vivarium for housing mice and rats and a newly renovated central vivarium located in the Biological Sciences Building that is equipped to accommodate a large variety of rodents as well as larger vertebrates and several species of marine organisms. The vivarium is staffed by a team of certified animal care technicians under the supervision of an accredited full-time veterinarian who specializes in the care of laboratory animals. The Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences provides technical support staff and facilities that enhance the quality of the work environment and increase the research possibilities open to faculty and students. The department has its own Departmental Computer Facility open to faculty and graduate students as well as an undergraduate experimental classroom facility. There are workshops within the Psychology building for metal, carpentry, and electronic fabrication.
