How do I enroll?
- Contact Dr. Ettenberg by e-mail (ettenber@psych.ucsb.edu) or visiting during his office hours to discuss your background, coursework and interests
- If appropriate, Dr. Ettenberg will circulate an e-mail to his graduate students to determine the need in the coming quarter(s) for undergraduate research assistance
- A graduate student from the lab will then contact you to discuss his/her research and determine whether your interests and schedule will work for the project
- You will then be asked to obtain and complete a sign-up form from the main psychology office (ask for a Psy 99 or Psy 199 form). Fill out the form but leave the project description blank – the graduate student with whom you will be working will assist you with this section which will need to be pre-approved by Dr. Ettenberg.
- You and your graduate student mentor will then need to set up a brief meeting with Dr. Ettenberg to go over the description of the project, your role in the research, and the number of work hours that you've committed to. He will then provide his signature on the form.
- Once the form is signed, MAKE COPIES for you, for your graduate student mentor, and for Dr. Ettenberg. When you submit the original to the undergraduate advisor in the Psychology Office, you will receive an enrollment code for the class.
- After you've enrolled, and before you will be permitted to handle lab animals, you will need to complete basic training required of all UCSB animal users (click here for detailed instructions)
