Cynthia Khan is a postdoctoral researcher in the Close Relationships Lab with Professor Nancy Collins. She completed her Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology at Kent State University in 2010. The focus of her graduate work was on the health effects of spouses' enacted social support and social control (i.e., attempts to encourage healthy behaviors and discourage unhealthy behaviors) in older adult couples living with one partner's chronic illness. For her postdoctoral research on couples, Cynthia intends to investigate how each partner's emotions, cognitions, and physiological responses influence, and are influenced by, social support exchanges during a stressful situation.
