Dr. Lucie Finez is a visiting researcher from the Applied Psychology Laboratory based in Rheims, France. She also works as a lecturer and research associate in the Sports Department of the University of Amiens. Her Ph.D. was conferred December 2008 and her research focuses on claimed self-handicapping in sports. More precisely, she is interested in predicting the emergence of this strategy among athletes and studies the interaction between dispositional (self-esteem, self-handicapping tendency) and situational determinants (presence, absence and direction of ego-threat) on its emergence. She is currently collaborating with Professor Jim Blascovich and plans to use the biopsychosocial model of challenge and threat to assess the threat experienced by athletes who engage in self-handicapping.
