Nina Masjedi receives Morgan Award for Academic Excellence

June 13, 2019

Nina Masjedi is a recipient of the 2018-2019 Morgan Award for Academic Excellence in Psychological & Brain Sciences. Nina is from Los Angeles, California and is graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biopsychology. She is a part of the first cohort of Promise Scholars here at UCSB. On campus, Nina is a peer mentor at the ONDAS Student Center where she mentors First Generation College Students in academic and personal matters. Nina is a part of the Computational Mate Choice Lab lead by Professor Conroy-Beam. She is heavily involved in the dance community at UCSB and is a member of the hip-hop group Urban Dance Company. Nina also a dance instructor in her Santa Barbara community. After graduating, Nina plans to further gain insight on the graduate school she chooses to continue working in research. We have no doubt that she will be an excellent candidate as she is graduating with a 3.97 GPA in her rigorous Biopsychology and her nominator Dr. Woods can attest that “ it takes an exceptional and dedicated student to volunteer their summer afternoon in the lab learning programming rather than out on the beach!” She is extremely passionate about both academia and the arts, and hopes to combine these two in a future career.

Congratulations, Nina!
