Graduate Studies:
Computing Facilities
Department Computing Facility The Department Computing Facility in The Department of Psychology houses PC and Macintosh-based computers, a color scanner, laser printer, and a color printer. The department owns and supports a variety of software packages for statistical analyses, word processing, spreadsheets, programming languages, graphical image processing, and presentation software. In addition to these packages the department also provides internet access by means of desktop applications that enable the user to access World Wide Web, Usenet newsgroups, and ftp sites. All the computers in this facility are connected to the department's server which support file and printer sharing. Life Sciences Computing Facility (LSCF) The Life Sciences Computing Facility was established to support undergraduate and graduate instruction in scientific laboratory research in the Department of Psychology, the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Marine Biology, and the Department of Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. The laboratory is equipped with Macintosh computer systems for statistical analysis, acquisition of video images from microscope, videodisk or computer, and for the preparation of instructional materials. All computers are connected to a UNIX server and the facility can be accessed directly or remotely by graduate students and faculty in all three departments.
